How to fit Dance Shoes

Ballet shoes should fit (almost exactly) to the foot, with the toes flat at the end of the shoe.  The shoe will mould to the foot as they are worn.  Elastics need to fit snuggly over the instep.

Tap shoes should fit well, so the shoe shouldn’t have more than a cm growing room, to enable the dancer to make a good strong sound with the toe tap.

Character shoes

Low-heeled style must be worn for grades 1&2. Cuban heel height is for grades 3+. Fit is similar to ordinary shoes and must fit securely.

Pointe shoes must be fitted by a professional.  Please contact The Dance Spot, Chippenham to book an appointment, once you have had approval for pointe work from the school. www.thedancespot.co.uk
