We are excited to be preparing for the latest PBS production:
‘The Snow Queen’
Information Updated October 2024
Here, we’ll try and answer FAQs to help you plan for you/your child’s involvement:
Who is involved?
All students are encouraged to take part as the experience is like nothing else; hugely enriching, exciting and rewarding. Students who are Preschool, Reception and Y1 will be pre-recorded and will be able to watch the show (and their own performance) with their families.
Students who are currently in Y2 will be in 1-3 live shows you should already have the information about which show your child will feature in. You can view it again here: https://poundballetstudio.co.uk/production-info-for-young-dancers-y2-and-younger/
Students in currently in Y3 and above will be in all 3 live shows.
Pieces for the shows are created in all genres, Tap, Modern, Contemporary, Ballet Grade classes (Preschool – Grade 8), as well as Repertoire, Pointe Level 3 and Adult classes. We do not create pieces in Exam-prep sessions, Boost classes or lower-level pointe work.
When & Where:
Rehearsals – the majority will be in your child’s usual lesson time. This means that classes are essential so dancers feel confident and happy onstage. We also use this time for costume fitting so please be aware how important it is for attendance to be close to 100%. Dancers who are injured or unwell (if un-infectious) are encouraged to watch or gently mark.

VITAL KIT LIST:
Please ensure you have the following prepared for the show.
Parking at the show venue:
You can find the Theatre entrance by taking ‘Fonthill Road’ turning and dropping at the top of the ramp. Vehicles for disabled guests may use this access slope for drop off. Parking for all is on Fonthill Road and surrounding roads.
How to take part:
All participants should have completed a participation form in May.
Costs:
Our shows are non-profit-making. We provide the opportunity because we believe in the benefits of performance to enrich, build confidence and stage craft. As such we keep costs down wherever possible. Costs will include:
Costume hire – If you haven’t settled this it is now overdue. Please check your accounts for payments to Carter-Thynne Productions and if you have not made payment, do so straight away. Late fees may be incurred.
Modest rehearsal fees for practices/filming outside of usual lessons – Additional sessions such as 21/09, 01/11 & 02/11 will be charged at £6 to cover staffing and space hire this needs to be brought in cash on these sessions. Students taking part in additional performance groups will have additional fees. Soloists may be called for additional sessions and these will be FOC or competitively priced for 1:1 sessions.
Tickets to see the show – We’ve pleased to have managed to keep our ticket prices the same as 2022 – £12 with concessions for very young audience members
Film & Photography of the event: We anticipate a DVD or digital copy of the shows to be available for purchase from a new provider. We may also have the opportunity for professional photography. We will not have control of these costs, but purchase of these items will be optional. Audience filming and photography will be prohibited to allow everyone to enjoy the show.
