Debut Dance Company –
About the Company
Our selective Dance Company was formed in 2018 for students aged 13 (Y9) – 18 who are serious about developing their art.
The company is designed to give the dancers an insight into professional practices and company classes. The company provides opportunities such as additional performance platforms, working with professional guest practitioners, and collaborative artists. Debut Dance Company’s objective is to equip young dancers with a performance skill set that can be drawn upon in a pre-professional and future professional setting.
Company Cast Requirements
The focus is on varied creative processes and additional performance opportunities. There is an expectation that dancers are working on strong dance technique in additional lessons, as we only have time to run technique classes on occasion. There is also an understanding that absences are kept to an absolute minimum and notice is given wherever possible as the company works collaboratively. Company members with poor attendance may lose their place as continued absence impacts the progress of the group.
Applicants must be confident performers, strong in their field (for their age) and open to challenge. Dancers are considered if they demonstrate the excellent performance skills and/or choreographic ability and the right work ethic. No specific-background is required in genre, but dancers should expect to work mainly with Contemporary movement in class.
